Obituary: Barbara Jean (Johnson) Jacobson passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her home in Ocean City, Maryland. Wife of the late William Peyser Jacobson. Beloved mother of Michael P. Jacobson and his wife Rena Y. Jacobson, and Stacy Jacobson Ice and her husband Charles C. Ice. Loving grandmother of Aaron and Adam Jacobson. Loving sister, JoAnne Coleman, Robert Johnson, Sandra Lamb and Linda Reinke. She grew up in Withee, Wisconsin. She lived in Northern Virginia for 35+ years with her husband. She was proud to have earned two Master’s degrees. Retiring from Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) after more than 25+ years she lived her dream in retirement with a home on the seashore. Her biggest pride and joy was Michael and Stacy and her grandchildren. She was a remarkable English teacher and her students loved her. Barbara loved to read and was also part of several book clubs. She volunteered in her community by working at the library; by teaching English as a Second Language to foreign students; and working with Maryland Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children in Worcester County, Maryland helping abused and neglected children in the community to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system. Barbara was an avid traveler. During her retirement, she took annual trips to various places around the world, including Russia, China, Japan and Poland with a former high school teacher. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who held the family together. She is loved and will be greatly missed!

Dear Mom… Saying goodbye is never easy It's the hardest thing to do But what hurts even more Is not the chance to say it to you. Yesterday is just a memory Our laughter was sunny and bright Then clouds started to gather For you were no where in sight. You were the best mom And this I will never forget How you left without a warning No good-byes, my only regret. No matter what my wrongs You offered only love Until the day you left us For your new home up above. We know you still are with us Your love is within our hearts Though life is no longer present Our souls will never part. This is given to you in honor Of all that we did share We just wanted you to know, mother, How much we really did care. We love you!
